We fished 2/1/23. This property is really very pretty with awesome mountain backdrops. Its a wonderful place to spend the day. As others have mentioned, there isn’t much structure on this section, its more of a straight riffle run. We were not able to raise any fish, but I’d put that down to the angler mostly! We tried the usual suspect assortment of small midges and mergers and threw some streamers but didn’t get any takers. Walking and access is mostly easy. There is a dog welcoming party, so if you have a skittish dog with you, just be aware. The dogs were all friendly and my lab had no problem getting along with them fine.
Fished 1/25/23. Windy and cold in the canyon but the property was very scenic and easy to find. The boundaries and parking was all well marked. I caught three 9 inch browns and rainbows on a #22 tan bling midge. Looking forward to going back!
Fishing was great. Temps were between 28-30 Fahrenheit. Small midges and small streamers were the ticket. Fish were stacked up in the deeper pools with some hanging out in the riffles. Getting flies deep enough was key. After weight, fly selection wasn’t too important. I felt as if these fish don’t see much pressure and weren’t picky like public access on the blue. Getting around the property was a little tough. Moving around in the river was key. The snow was deep and post-holing was exhausting. All in all great day on the river. Big browns and rainbows were abundant.
Sunny low 50s perfect January day to go flyfishing! I was pleasantly surprised to see both the spring creeks and the Roaring Fork essentially free of ice. The water was still very cold but the fish were more and more active as the day progressed, as expected. The ponds were still 60% covered in ice but the open areas produced fish. Streamer fished all day. Deep and slow retrieves did the trick.
I fished on 1/30/24 on an exceptionally warm day for winter. High was 50 with clear skies. Water temps were 38. Flow on the Roaring Fork was approx. 350 cfs. and very clear.Parking and access was good. The fish were mostly holding in the slow, deep pools, although some moved up in the runs as the day warmed up. Egg pattern with midge trailer, productive on both flies. An Olive Two Bit Midge seemed to be the most consistent. Nice property, plenty of fish, beautiful area.
