Overview

Large ranch with over 10 miles of mountain creeks and streams near where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid called home. The first stretch of water is easily accessible by car and foot. The second stretch of water requires one hour drive on backcountry roads, only accessible by UTV or side by side. UTV and side-by-sides can be rented in town. Fishing is spectacular with the chance to complete the trout grand slam (i.e. rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat) in one day. Trout average 10-16″ in length. You’ll be catching trout on dry flies every other cast at this location! Want to make a long weekend or week out of it? Camping is permitted here. River access is very easy around the homestead and on the backcountry stream. Access can get a little dicey as you venture more than 1.5 miles from the homestead so please be careful.

In the summer, you do need to have a UTV/AVT to access the backcountry. Please note this is an hour’s drive on a UTV. You may not drive up there in any other vehicle, even if it has 4WD. After September 1st, you can only fish around the homestead (1.5 – 2 miles), and however far you can hike up into the canyon. Please do not drive past the parking/camping areas.

Please allow up to 2 business days for booking confirmations.

Camping prices are per person/per day. Camping is dispersed camping. Please practice “leave no trace” principles and pack out all trash. You will need to supply your own water.  No open fires allowed.

Owner was very accommodating and helpful. Stream was smaller than I expected from the listing. Fish were small but actively feeding. Beautiful site. Access was easy. It would have been helpful to know that the back section of the ranch was unavailable after September 1 prior to booking

We were just made aware of this change this fall and will make sure to let our anglers know ahead of time in the future. Thanks for your feedback!

Just. Wow. This property is unbelievable. It’s as remote as you can get in the lower 48. We caught brown, brook and rainbow trout on dry flies all day. The landowner was willing to take us to the backcountry section of the stream for a few extra dollars.

It’s simple. You just pay as you book. Anyone can book our locations! Property access starts at $125 per angler per day. Subscriptions aren’t required but Cutthroat subscribers enjoy perks like $25 off every booking and river reports for each trip. Spend more time on the water and let us worry about the rest!

Landowners have at least 1/2 mile of river, stream or creek running through their property. Each property is vetted by RareWaters staff to ensure a premium fly fishing experience.

Right now, we’re focused on the Western United States. But don’t worry, we plan to list properties in other states soon. Our goal is to provide you with new water access no matter where you’re traveling.

We offer subscriptions to all anglers. Subscriptions offer anglers discounted rod fees, priority booking and more. $25 of every subscription is donated to Trout Unlimited, our partners in conservation.

After we receive your payment, RareWaters sends anglers a detailed property map including directions and GPS coordinates. We strongly encourage all anglers to save the GPS coordinates into their smartphones before leaving cell service. Google Maps is our preferred app for directions.
