Overview

Looking to fish a big Montana river with breathtaking scenery? Slow Eddy Montana Ranch is just an hour’s drive from Missoula, Montana. Here you will find 1 3/4 miles of fishing on the Clark Fork River.

Once below the confluence of the Bitterroot River, the Clark Fork River takes on a new character. Here you will find a big Montana river that is wide and flowy but still very fishable.

Slow Eddy Montana Ranch offers the gamut of slow channels and big water with a few larger back channels and eddies, dependent on river flows. This ranch features big water and predatory fish, such as Pike. Fish are known to cruise some of these slower waters in a predatory manner but do not forget to look in those obvious feed lines. This ranch does allow for easier access due to the topography, the banks consist of fist-size stones and larger, with an occasional sandy bank. Browns, Rainbows, and Pike are all options on this section of the river.

There are multiple access locations on this property, with the easiest access downstream.

Want to make a long weekend or week out of it? Camping is permitted here. We have 2 separate private camping areas located on the Slow Eddy Montana Ranch. If you have a large group consider booking our neighboring property, Clark Fork Overlook Ranch, as well.

Although we typically get your booking approved within a few hours, please allow up to 1 business day for booking confirmations.

Camping prices are per vehicle/per day. Camping is dispersed camping. Please practice “leave no trace” principles and pack out all trash. You will need to supply your own water. Bear spray is recommended. Montana law requires a locking cooler or bear-proof food storage. Campfires must be a propane gas ring, no open fires allowed.

It’s simple. You just pay as you book. Anyone can book our locations! Property access starts at $125 per angler per day. Subscriptions aren’t required but Cutthroat subscribers enjoy perks like $25 off every booking and river reports for each trip. Spend more time on the water and let us worry about the rest!

Landowners have at least 1/2 mile of river, stream or creek running through their property. Each property is vetted by RareWaters staff to ensure a premium fly fishing experience.

Right now, we’re focused on the Western United States. But don’t worry, we plan to list properties in other states soon. Our goal is to provide you with new water access no matter where you’re traveling.

We offer subscriptions to all anglers. Subscriptions offer anglers discounted rod fees, priority booking and more. $25 of every subscription is donated to Trout Unlimited, our partners in conservation.

After we receive your payment, RareWaters sends anglers a detailed property map including directions and GPS coordinates. We strongly encourage all anglers to save the GPS coordinates into their smartphones before leaving cell service. Google Maps is our preferred app for directions.
